Howdy R-12,
Well, summer is over, the kids are back in school (finally), and the Nats are over with. Where has this year gone? Must getting old, the years are now just flying by.
This newsletter will mostly speak of the Nats for those of you that couldn’t make. They had 2525 entries…

Officers and CC's: Please pass this along to all of your fellow members ASAP! They can use the link to check into what may be of interest to them. And for you "non-members", THIS is just another example (besides the Journal, group insurance, the MakeNTake, the Adult Builders Course, free decals, and support for your local club and its activities) of what IPMS can do for YOU, IF you join and help support this hobby, your local club, and your fellow club members who are already members. Heck, I be…

Hello,
Are Military subjects the mainstay of this organization? I understand completely if they are, being in the Ft. Bragg A/O; have attended a few shows at different locals and Military subjects seem to dominate in entries/award ribbons. Clubs also seem to gravitate toward military building activites, leaving those of us who do non-military aviation subjects without a lot to do as far as participating.
The last club I belonged to tolerated my subject matter until it came time for a group bui…

Approximately eighteen years ago I took my family on a trip to Washington, DC, Pennsylvania and the Inner Harbor at Baltimore. I must admit, the side trip to the Inner Harbor had a selfish motive but fortunately there was plenty there to make it an enjoyable trip for the whole family. My personal motive, though, was that I had heard that the USF Constellation had been restored and was on display at the Inner Harbor.
This turned out to be not entirely true. The hull was there but the restoration…

I have come across a wonderful solution for painting the intakes of jet aircraft. Someone out there may know this one but it took me all of about two weeks of making and stuffing cut objects in to the intakes. As I tried to mask the sharp white demarcation with Tamiya tape it would stick where I did not want it to and could not get it right. Then I stuffed precut soft foam in the intakes this worked OK, but still was not what I was hoping for. Then I came to me use white decal paper. I had some…

Larry Thompson over at Pegasus Hobbies was kind enough to send me their newly released P-51B. If you've built a Pegasus kit, you'll know what an exceptional value they are, and wonderfully engineered for a snap-tight kit. Here are a few progress shots of the cockpit before I closed up the fuselage.
As with most Pegasus kits, the cockpit is simplified, but reasonably detailed, especially with a closed canopy. Wouldn't take much scratch building to really make it shine, though.…

We have made arrangements for our Christmas party. We are going to have it at Ryan's on Skibo It is over by Sam's Club and Walmart. We will meet there at 7:00 on the 12th of December. The parties name is under LaFayette Scale Modelers. Your families are welcome to come enjoy as well. We are going to have a Yankee swap meet. If you do not know what it is bring a model wrapped and we can explain it at the party. The gift should not be extravagant (less than $20). I look forward to seeing everyone…
